KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - OoRIKoO performs Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me on Karaoke Showcase - Okay it's time I got to the music that is my bread and butter (literally). This song has a 1 min 20 second intro put down by the finest brass players I have ever had the pleasure to work with and my thanks goes to them, Tony Sibbio Saxaphones, Dante' Wills Trumpet and William "Stretch" Copeland Trombone. "Do Nothing till You Hear from Me" (also written as "Do Nothin' Til You Hear From Me") is a song with music by Duke Ellington and lyrics by Bob Russell. It originated as a 1940 instrumental ("Concerto for Cootie") that was designed to highlight the playing of Ellington's lead trumpeter, Cootie Williams. Russell's words were added later. In 1944, Ellington's own recording of the song was a number one hit on Billboards R&B chart for eight non-consecutive weeks and number six on the pop charts.
