I had the opportunity to make a trip to Scottsdale Arizona this weekend for some personal relaxation time. While I was there, the girlfriend and I went out to sing at karaoke and had a fantastic time! As some of you know, I have looked here in Utah for a "good" show and have come up lacking in one area or another. But this time it was a really great show. Thursday night we went to a place called "Ernies" and had one of the best karaoke nights I have ever had (outside of my own shows of course :biggrinthumb: )

We arrived there at 8:10 and the show was already in progress, so obviously the host does start on time. The host was professional and friendly, plus he didn't feel the need to make himself the center of attention. He focused on each singer as they performed and exited the stage. The sound system was a mixture of QSC and something else (labels were not visible), but they could have been JBL. Sound was a bit loud, but it was also clear and had great bass response. Lighting was simple, yet effective. He used GTD 787 mics, so I knew that they would be good.

Food was excellent and service was fast, friendly and attentive. The place was not packed,I would guess that it was about half capacity. There was about 45 patrons there of which the rotation was only 10-12, so we were able to sing often. There was some very good singers there as well, and none of them were what you would call "terrible". And it didn't hurt that there were several attractive ladies there having a great time. The average age of customers was probably between 30 and 45. I was probably the oldest person there, but didn't feel out of place at all.

I was able to sing 4 songs, plus we could have sang another, but left early.

Songs sang:
CCR - Bad Moon Rising (DK version)
Puddle of Mudd - She Hates Me (Chartbuster version)
Commitments - Mustang Sally (Legends version)
Exile - Kiss You All Over (DK version)

This place does not offer any Sound Choice songs at all. Almost no place in Arizona does anymore. It goes to show that you actually don't "need" them to run a good quality show.

All in all, we had a great time and if there is ever another day that I need to "de-stress" and "relax", and I find myself in the Phoenix area, I will definitely go back to "Ernies".

I had in the back of my mind that Smooth was from Arizona, but I was mistaken. Sorry for the mix up my friend :D

Who on this board is from the Phoenix/Scottsdale area? I went there hoping to find a show by a fellow forum member. I just found one online instead. I got lucky that it was a good show.

I like that DK version of Kiss You All Over - it's the full version.

If I had thought ahead of time, I would have searched you out and came to your show (if it were possible). It would have been fun to meet someone from the forum. So far the only person I have met is Bob Beeding (ripman8). And I have been to Lonnies place in the daytime when he wasn't there.

Pardigm, do you know the owner and/or host of the bar I went to? (Ernies on Scottsdale Road)

I like the fact that it is an extended (full) version, I just am not that fond of DK and the use of the pan flute in the background. So, usually I choose the Sound Choice version, just did not have that option at this establishment.
