8) The local Moose Lodge was nearly shut down. It has hit on hard times, and as an active member I want to help them. They have no money in the till. They can't afford to pay a host and I told them I would come in Thursday and play for free, a volunteer. All the money they collect for me will be donated back to the Lodge. I just hope I remember how to run the machine, I have been away from it for so long. I'm going to use my Bose, even if I know this is going to piss Alan off. What the hell it is for a good cause. Wish me luck.

Now if you can just get the beer distributors and Liquor companies to donate their products as well; you'll have the perfect socialistic business entity.

8) I was under the impression that there was nothing perfect about socialism, it is evil pure and simple?

8) I wasn't trying to make this a political discussion, it is in the wrong area for that. I was merely sharing something that is going on in my area, and I want to help out. Since when is helping out Left or Right? The Moose do several good works, helping orphans mainly.

You have my blessing. Use it and enjoy it (no matter how inferior it may be). Sorry, just couldn't help myself. LOL

I was welcomed back again from my last year gig. Yesterday, Sunday, 200+ attendees in the house and it was rockin' due to my "second rate and inferior" Bose system (as per Alan).

What's more, that was the fundamental motivation behind why I was back three years in a row.

My dear Brian... I'm happy that this has been a successful event for you. However, I wouldn't attribute it's success because you used a Bose system. I'm sure if you had used your QSC speakers, it would have been just as successful. Of course, putting on a quality show and having your customers like you also contribute to your success. So, I wouldn't be so quick to giving the credit to Bose.

8) The QSC system is not meant to be moved. The whole point of the Bose system is it's portability, an ability to fit in tight places. Maybe you don't like Bose, but honestly I have never had any complaints when using my system. Like any other piece of equipment there is a learning process before you master it. Coupled with my Yamaha mixer I get a very good blend out of the finished product. I know I will catch hell for saying this, but then it's almost vacation time.

8) Brian I see by your photo you have your Bose setup quite close to your main setup. I know that there is not supposed to be much feed back with Bose, do you have problems with your mics getting too close to the tower itself? I usually set the tower close to the middle of the room back against the wall, a good distance from my mixer and mics.

I have 2 L1 Model IIs with 4 B2 subs and 2 T1TMEs with 2 Packlites. I had occasion where I used all except just the 1 T1TME. It may be just me, but that was the only time I could not tell a difference with all subs in the upright position. Other than that one time all my shows have been in a more intimate venue utilizing just one system and the sub seemed to sound better on it's side. I do use Breakaway, also.

Any Bosers out there feel the same?

I agree, Lone Ranger! Whoa, what does Kemosabe mean? Well, weight: my QSC K122, (50 lbs ea). = 100, QSC KW181 sub, 88 lbs. Total weight: 188 lbs.

Bose L1 Mod II Tower (upper & lower) 33 lbs. Bass2 Module, 45 lbs. Total weight: 78 lbs.
108 lb contrast between the two. It’s an easy decision.

LR – the mics used: wireless Line 6 xd-V75 and wireless Sennheiser ew-d845. Phenomenal clarity and very high gain before feedback on both mics. So, No feedback whatsoever.

Be that as it may, of course, I wouldn’t expect anything less from sound originating from my “second rate inferior” Bose system (as per Alan, Again!). LMAO

I essentially love to nudge and poke at you Alan. We’ve been trading jabs for a good 6 years now. Cheers, buddy. :beermates:

8) Brian according to the first episode of the t.v. series "The Lone Ranger" Kemosabe means, trusty scout. Tonto seems to be caught up with the word Scout since that is the name of his little pinto horse as well.

Did you know that Brian and Bose both start with the letter "B"? Coincidence?

And yes, Brian and I have been trading jabs for several years now. And while we may not always see eye to eye or agree on something, I like and respect Brian very much. It's all good and it's all in fun.

You have to admit Brian, we've kept this forum quite interesting for many years. LOL.

On a practically identical note, do you understand that Alan “B” could in like manner mean Bose? Coincidence? LOL

I have four L1M2's, two B1's, and two B2's. I run stereo with a T4S using the B2's as my primary. The second set is for back-up, or two events on same day. Also using Breakaway to level tracks.

Never noticed a difference with subs upright or on their side.

8) I sort of feel like Santa loading up his sleigh, I forgot just how much it takes to do a show, and I'm not has young as I used to be, but onward and upward. I will know in a few hours if I should stay retired or not. I really don't want to get back in this full time, even though after being off the circuit over two years now, I still get calls for gigs. Well it is nice they remember. 8) 8) 8)

LR, the planning required to do that graduation party last Sunday was exhausting; this was one of those gatherings that I can’t turn down.

The careful preparation with a detailed plan, the loading, and unloading of equipment, the tear down; it was draining. It has been a long time since I was doing mobile gigs. Those were the days when I was young and able-bodied. Now that I’m older, the brain is eager, yet the body does not have any desire to collaborate and listen.

On the off chance that you crave once more returning to the saddle again, locate a weekly gig that will enable you to leave your gear in the venue. Stationary, like the regular gig I got going. No wear and tear on the equipment (and your body). Everything is good to go. Power up and power down. Nice!

Good luck, LR. I wish you success. 8)

8) Everything went well last night, had a two hour rotation, so most singers got two songs. Naturally since I had more than 10 singers I took myself off the list. The only problem was a KJ host I know was sort of putting in his two cents. You know he's upset that I'm not charging for my services. I told him that I did not know if it was worth anything since I had been away from hosting a long time. I was surprised that I remembered everything, and when I got stumped on the set up, I worked it out. I had played the venue before, and knew the bartender this helped greatly. It is a good thing I still lift weights and walk over two miles everyday. Unloading and setting up wasn't hard as I thought it would be. Then my grandfather had 21 children and was still farming when he was 69 so genetics help, I guess?

The real story is the off the reservation KJ, there was another KJ there as well, seems that when you do any kind of work the sharks circle to see if they can promote something. This is for a non paying gig, just imagine what would happen if it was paying, that would be like real chum in the water, and a real feeding frenzy. Like I was stating one KJ was critical, and the other supportive, you know good cop bad cop type thing. Thanks for all the support from hosts on this forum. Now I'm ready for vacation, at least as soon as I pick up my equipment at noon today.
