I'm thinking of purchasing either the CAVS PLATINUM HDV-201 or the CAVS DVD-202. This item will serve as a backup to my Vocopro TwisterII. Intended use is for home and occasional small parties. What are the advantages/disadvantages of each of the CAVS players? Any advice would be appreciated. I do realize that the opinions regarding CAVS players in general vary and their value is considered questionable.

One of the better things is that some of those units come with extensive libraries (for a price).
I sit on the fence (ouch) with the CAVS units - I hear so may good and bad things -

Would "I" buy a CAVS unit for HOME use "YES"

Would "I" buy a CAVS unit for Commercial use "NO"

But then again I believe real talented DJ's still use vinyl

Have fun

Sammy

Tonight.. (Wednesday Night)
I went to 8 shows here in Albuquerque, NM and asked the KJ's this question.. (Myself not included)

"Honestly, if you could use the "cavs" system tomorrow with the current issues that you were aware of, and the media available and cost was not a factor.. Would you use it?"

It was a yes or no situation.

1 said yes 7 said no.

There ya have it. 8)

I've seen the dvd202g in action tonight... plays the supercdg stuff quickly!! BUT loading a cdg disc into it, or dvd disc, takes about 3 - 5 seconds for it to reconize the format and convert it's playing mode.

I appreciate the helpful responses to my concerns. I believe I will hold off a bit longer in making my decision.
