 Hi. I have a Sony +301 DVD player loaded with karaoke VCD's. When changing songs, I find it to be too slow and time consuming.

What I really want to do is load all of my karaoke VCD's onto my PC, install some kind of PC karaoke Jukebox software and connect my PC to my home entertainment system.

Then I can simply punch in the song number corresponding to the song and bam, it starts playing. It would be really great if I could actually queue up the songs on a playlist as the next song request come in.

I have been doing some research into "Media Receivers / Players" such as the PRISMIQ and Gateways network connected DVD player.

I know somebody out there has already blazed the trail.

Thank You for any help / suggestions. Alex

i know exactly what you looking for.....its called karaoke server.

the website is unifkaraoke.com....go to the internet and do a search with that unifykaraoke...they have standard version, server version... around 1300 for all the hardware and software....if you can build the hardware yourself, you only pay for the software...it's less than 100 for the software
tell me how it goes

also, keep in mind... the VCD bit IS very slow. Every player I've ever seen takes at least five seconds to recognize it and convert it's playing process...

CD+gs are faster. DVDs are about the same speed as a VCD, even slower when you have to go thru the Menu selection of the old pioneers!

Thank you for your feedback / input.

I did take a look at the Unify Karaoke PC. It is close to what I am looking for but I already have a great PC. I want to use my PC and load all of my VCD's onto the hard drive in order to create my own Karaoke Music Library.

What I'm really interested in are these MediaPlayers like the PRISMIQ. Has anyone out there successfully used a MediaPlayer to drive their karaoke parties?

I want to get away from the VCD's, CD's and GDG's.
