Hey All,

I have my system set up with the audio out on my Cavs 202g going to the tape in on my mixer. But I can't seem to get video.

I would use the composite video out to the video in on the tv, right? I have tried a couple of cables to no avail.

Any ideas?

Patrick

ps. The Cavs seems to have been used when I opened the box and is going back this week. Maybe it's broken?

It's pretty basic Audio / Audio - Video / Video

Make sure the video selector on the TV corresponds with what you're plugging into ie. Video 1 to Video 1. You may even want to check it with another TV first

not necessarily broken, Pat... many people try out the Cavs units based on what they feel are good bargains, and then they realize what they've gotten.

But when they resold it to you, it should have had some statement on the box or inventory slip stating it was a returned unit, but still fully functional.

I will try another tv first to rule that out. Thanks Sammy.

Matt, I'm not sure the guy even knew it was a return. No big deal I sorta planned on bringing it back anyway. I may get a JVC/RSQ or a Pioneer as a backup. I just wanted something to play around with until my JVC comes tomorrow.

Thanks Guys! :)

When your JVC comes tomorrow, I'd recommend hooking it up to your video in on the tv using the same cable ya tried on the cavs. If it works without changing anything else, I'd say either the cavs is broke, or there's something you haven't come across with respect to the video out - but haven't a clue as to what it might be.

many tvs have several "video" options... on the one in the bar I hook up to, I had to go to a "video 3" by pressing the "TV/Video" button... this scrolled thru the various A/V ways of hooking up to it.

For older TVs without the yellow Video a/v port, you'll have to use an R/F Modulator (available at radio shack for $20)... or some video game stores that sell one for their game systems.... it converts the signal to be used via a coax cable.

Pat, I'd try consulting the manual (either online or the paper one) for that specific TV model!! Also, hook up a vcr to that same port... use any A/V wire, doesn't matter... but hook the yellow to yellow bit, and see if you get a picture that way. I'm betting it's your "input" selection... you haven't found the right one for that specific TV.

Matt

This is cheapo 'Apex' 13" color tv. I got it for $68 at circuit city.

I will bring the cavs upstairs to another tv later to try it out.

talk to circuit city... it may be a "Line" option on a remote for the TV... many times, it's before channel 2 ... so go to channel 2 and then hit channel DOWN.

I tried it on the TV upstairs and it still didn't work. I'm guessing it's the Cavs. Oh well, I am going to return it tomorrow anyway. :)

Thanks for your input guys (actually, I was having trouble with OUTPUT!!)

I received my JVC triple tray player today and tried it out with the Apex tv and had no problem!

The culprit was definitely the cavs! :x

Okay, okay Brian you were right!

The Cavs goes back tomorrow!!
